Autozone calipers

Just ordered my 2-piston calipers from Autozone. They were $45 each with a $62 core for each. Not bad for nice reman'd shiny calipers that are garuanteed to work. Plus, I will return my old crap calipers as core, because there is no way for them to tell the difference.

For some reason front legend calipers are dirt cheap there. When I got quoted for my rears they were 100+ without core charge.

O yeah when you put them on the car make sure you put the left on the right and vice versa so the bleeder screw is pointed up.

There is obviously no method to Nissins madness

No wonder people order dual piston calipers and constantly get single piston ones.

most people dont even notice i bet.. or mechanics.

I mean they'd bolt right up just like the single pistons.

Thats bad form on Nissins part for using identical p/n on the castings.

Hey guys I?m new to the board (posting anyway) but I have been looking at you guys swapping out your brakes for awhile now and I need to know or get some info about all of this. They said at autozone legend calipers are 48$ with a 40$ core charge and that rotors are 70 if i remember correctly. My question is will that be all i need or do I need something else to complete the legend swap on a 6th gen? i hear wont be beat needs a bracket? But in the tech section it said it wasn?t used in that case or something to that effect... so di i need one or not and what else will i need

Soon as I do this upgrade, I will make a write-up and delete that other tech article.

I suggest getting rotors from Cobalt Friction (www.cobaltfriction.com).

For the calipers to fit right without the use of spacers, 23T brackets must be used.

You will also need brake fluid to flush the system.

Why dont you wait until I do this (hopefully this weekend) and I'll have a good write-up shortly thereafter.

please don't forget that WBB now owns a prelude which has rotor-over-hub (which is what im swapping to and Chris as well). So your bracket concerns might be different...

Welcome to the board and hope to see you post more!

if you use the 28T brackets are you sure you need shims? These are sliding pistons and there is more travel on them than there is pad life even w/ the extra 5mm of space i believe.

the ultimate Accord ... i agree completely and thanks for the welcome guys. so GimpyAccord you don?t think that any of this stuff will apply to my 6th gen or what? i know 92-96 preludes have four lug and 97 up have 5? so im guessing you would be doing the 5 lug conversion with rotor-over-hub ? but i dont understand why? help out the noob

we 4th/5th gen accord owners have a poor hub over rotor setup, while you 6th gen owners are lucky to have rotor over hub. The rotor/hub swap does not apply to you unless you want to go w/ 5 lugs.

you will need 11.1" rotors or larger, and the matching brackets for that size. If you have a 4cylinder, i think you guys have 10" rotors, not 11", so you will need a larger rotor plus the bracket that accomidates it. The calipers from most recent honda's will bolt up to most caliper brackets, so legend ones should bolt up w/o trouble.

hybriddreams, you will need the rotors from a 93-96 Prelude VTEC, brackets from that same car or 98-02 Accord V6, and calipers from either or 94-95 Acura Legend GS 2-piston calipers. Dont quote me on this stuff.

If i remember correctly the 23T where to small, but i can't recall if the ones you need is the 25T or the 28T, anyway, i'm talking for accord, don't know if the prelude is different, BTW gen are you breakin in the pads and the rotor at the same time?

Doing that would be a no-no. I'm gonna take some sand paper to the rotors first to get that first layer off.
